A collection of songs written and recorded between 1985 and 2003.

I started writing music before I was ten. Many of my early songs were really just simple melodies, but I’d also write my own lyrics to famous songs. Most of them sucked, or were plain dumb, or both. But by the time I turned 15, I was writing real originals. And at least some I thought were just as good as what was on the radio.
One song, “Forever in Love”, I wrote for my brother Mark’s wedding.Since my Dad had a decent home recording setup, I decided to record the song as a wedding gift. The original recording was… really bad. No, I mean really bad, mainly because I knew nothing about mic placement, sound isolation, equalizing, mixing, or any other basic recording practices. But still, I liked the result and wanted to do more.
Another early endeavor was “Never Had the Chance” [released on the album: the Bozo Boys – Kicking the Carcass]. People really liked the song and that got me started on my writing and recording journey. With each song I recorded, I learned more and got better.
Of course, I absolutely could not have done it without my best friend and co-conspirator, Nick Krueger. He was a great player, had a great mind for the techno stuff and a great ear for what sounds good.
We recorded so many songs back then. But as it always happens, we got older and life got in the way. So those early songs sat untouched for years. Finally a decade ago, I decided to convert our old tapes to digital. As I did, I remembered how fun these early songs were. So I decided to put a bunch of them onto an album.
Yes, I still write and record today, but I’ll always enjoy the oldies. Sure, the recordings aren’t the best, but isn’t that part of the charm? So enjoy these songs that were once lost but now found. I hope you like them, I still do.
